Choose the right colors without overthinking it
A light method for building a harmonious palette while keeping creative freedom.
A harmonious palette does not need to be complicated. Three color families and one accent are often enough.
Start with a favorite color
Choose the color you most want to use first. It will set the tone for the rest of the page.
Add a neighbor
A nearby color on the color wheel creates a gentle transition: blue and violet, yellow and orange, green and turquoise.
Introduce contrast
A more distant color draws attention to an important area. Use it sparingly to keep the page balanced.
Leave some white
Not every area needs to be filled. White space gives the page room to breathe and makes the colors already in place stand out.
